Communitas is a Latin word that means people coming together for the good of a community. Communitas is inspired by the vision of a better world and is an attempt to do something about it through volunteerism, investment and ethical, sustainable business practices.
The Communitas logo signifies the harmony of people, the environment and the world. A face, a leaf and the globe are one.
The Communitas Award is the creative vision of the R.S. Owens Company, originators of the Oscar®, Emmy®, MTV® and MarCom® Awards. The glass and metal award weighs six and a half pounds. It is 12 inches tall with the Communitas logo sand carved into glass along with an inscription for the type of nomination. The glass will either be inscribed with Excellence In Corporate Social Responsibility; Excellence In Community Service; or Corporate Social Responsibility & Community Service. The glass is held by two highly-polished, outstretched, cast metal, gold arms. The award is presented on a black nickel base. Winners of Leadership categories will be eligible for awards with platinum arms. Each award comes with a personalized nameplate inscribed with the winner's information.
Communitas Awards keeps its nomination fees at reasonable levels by not making all nominees subsidize the cost of awards for the winners. Each winner is presented with a certificate and is given the option to purchase an award for $235. This ensures that the award is a high-quality piece of art that anyone would be proud to display in their office or home.
Any company, organization or individual that donates time, effort or money to improve the communities in which they live or work. Also, companies that exhibit ethical and sustainable business practices.
